Please share a memory of Madeline to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Madeline Macaluso, a beloved wife and mother who built a large web of friends and family on Long Island and beyond, passed away Dec. 21. Madeline, who lived in Seaford, died of heart failure at the age of 88. Funeral service will be held at Maria Regina Church in Seaford on Monday Dec. 28 at 10:45 with Reverend John Peter officiating. Burial will follow at the Calverton National Cemetery. Visitation will be held at William Law Funeral Home on Sunday Dec. 27 between 2pm and 4pm and again between 7pm and 9pm. William Law Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements. Madeline was born in the East New York section of Brooklyn, to Michael and Mary Sforza. Madeline was the youngest of six sisters - Anna, Mary, Marion, Lena and Gertrude. Madeline enjoyed cooking, playing poker with her sisters, trips to Atlantic City and loved taking her grandkids on outings to movies, farms and amusement parks. When she had time to herself she enjoyed reading and watching movie classics. She was introduced to Patty Macaluso by a neighborhood friend, Gloria Rumore in 1956. Patty had just finished Army service in Korea. Madeline was doing sewing work at Eclipse Mattress. Their first date was at the Brooklyn Paramount Theatre on Fulton St. They sat in the balcony, according to Patty. They were married later that same year. They had their first child, Frank, two years later. Then, in 1962, they moved to Seaford, NY and had their second child, Diane. Led by Madeline's easy warmth, the gregarious couple built a big network of friends and family. The holiday feasts, the backyard parties and the out-of-town trips pulled in neighbors, aunts and uncle's, cousins and even work pals who became lifelong friends. Madeline was the last surviving Sforza sister. She leaves Patty, her husband of 64 years; their son Frank, his wife Annmarie and daughter Madeleine. She is also survived by her daughter Diane Macaluso and her husband Scott Moritz and their sons Max, Joe and Sam.
